After his time in the Korean War working on

top secret items for the military, dad became a senior technical Illustrator with TRW.

He worked with them assisting NASA during the Gemini and Apollo projects as they sent men to and from Earth orbit and then to and from the

Moon safely.

When Apollo 13, was heading towards the Moon, as they approached it, they were to turn the page

in the mission plan book, and then display a 2 page spread with dad's picture, some of his cartoons

and a short letter to the people on Earth.

He would have immediately become a very famous artist and the first ever to have his face and artwork instantaneously seen by millions, via radio images sent back from the spacecraft orbiting the Moon. But when the explosion damaged the Command Module it stifled the public relations moment and it became a rescue mission and changed the destiny of those involved profoundly.

Over the years, dad's artwork went into orbit

around the Earth, then to the Moon and back,

and even lies on the bottom of the Ocean.
